First Federal/SCBT open Front Street Fire Fund with $1,500 for Red Cross Relief
MYRTLE BEACH, SC --- First Federal/SCBT has opened the Front Street Fire Fund with $1,500 in corporate dollars in response to the September 25 fire on Front Street.
The bank is partnering with the Georgetown area community to raise funds in support of the American Red Cross Coastal South Carolina chapter as they respond to the massive fire that destroyed at least eight buildings, businesses and residences. First Federal/SCBT opened a special account today and the public is encouraged to contribute in any First Federal or SCBT branch office.
Checks may be made payable to the Front Street Fire Fund.
“Our company has deep roots in Georgetown and we are all in shock over the devastation of yesterday’s fire,” said Brent Mackie, regional president, First Federal/SCBT. “We wanted to respond immediately in support of our friends, neighbors and fellow members of the business community. We know it’s the right thing to do, and we encourage our clients and the community to participate.”
The funds will be used to replenish Red Cross supplies as relief workers respond to individuals affected by the fire. The Red Cross has provided 350 hot meals, hydration and mental health services to those impacted by the fire. In addition, financial assistance, housing and food needs are being met now.
