We believe in keeping you safe. Identity theft is very real and can happen to anyone. Here are some helpful hints to follow to help protect yourself.
SCBT will never send you an email requesting personal account information (e.g. Social Security Number, account number, password or personal identification number [PIN]). If you receive an email claiming to be from SCBT requesting any personal information, DO NOT respond to the email and DO NOT click on any links within the email. You may call us at 1.800.277.2175 and/or forward the email to CustomerCare@SCBTonline.com to report the incident.
In addition to our security features, SCBT recommends that customers:
- Keep IDs and passwords confidential
- Use passwords that include letters and numbers that are not easily discernible (do not use birthdays, child's name, etc.)
- Change passwords frequently
- Use different passwords for each online service
