    Our Irmo Branch proudly sponsored and participated in the 40th Annual Irmo Okra Strut Festival on Saturday, September 28, 2013. The Okra Strut is an annual event in Irmo, SC that features a parade, food, fun and live entertainment.

    A donation check in the amount of $2,000.00 was awarded to the York County Free Clinic. The clinic provides serves to low income individuals and families free of charge.

  • SCBT St. George Raises Most Dollars For Souper Bowl of Caring

    After leading the pack for the 2013 Souper Bowl of Caring, The St George Branch celebrated with a luncheon that was held in their honor. At the luncheon, Gail Fralix [Senior VP/Retail Market Leader], Jessica Canady [Loan Assistant] and John Welch [Senior VP/Commercial Lender] presented Upper Dorchester County Community Food Bank with their donation.

    SCBT employees enjoyed meeting and greeting with contractors in Orangeburg County during the Contractor Appreciation Day event at Lowe’s on May 10th.

    Employees at our Highway 601 location in Orangeburg handed out star shaped cookies to customers in honor of Memorial Day.

  • Rivelon Elementary School Career Week

    SCBT bankers from Orangeburg, SC attended Rivelon Elementary School's hands-on portion of their career week. Our bankers helped teach the importance of savings accounts to the elementary school students.

  • Summerville Branch donates to DuBose Middle School Food Pantry

    Our Summerville Branch collected food for the Dubose Middle School Food Pantry. The DMS Food Pantry helps to provide meals for students to take home on the weekends to feed their entire family. The food pantry is operated solely by donations and currently feeds approximately 183 people each weekend.

  • Ronny Maxwell Receives Award for Contribution to Economic Development in Bamberg

    Ronny Maxwell, a Vice President with SCBT in Bamberg,SC has served as a tireless champion for economic development in Bamberg County since 1999, meeting with industrial prospects to welcome them to the county and working with existing industries in their expansion efforts. Mr. Maxwell served for many years as the President of the Bamberg County Chamber of Commerce and remains an active member today. Most notably, in this past year, Mr. Maxwell worked closely with a local industry to encourage and facilitate their expansion, which resulted in sizeable capital investment in Bamberg County and the ultimate creation of approximately 50 jobs. Mr. Maxwell has served as a member of the Board of Advisors to the Southern Carolina Regional Development Alliance and has been a longtime supporter of the Bamberg County Economic Development Commission, providing meeting services and facilitation. He currently serves as Co-Chairman of the Old Friends Festival and supports many community events and civic organizations in Bamberg. For these outstanding contributions, we are pleased to announce that Ronny has joined Bamberg’s distinguished group of Ambassadors.

  • SCBT York Office Named April Business of the Month

    The York, SC office of SCBT has been named the April 2013 Business of the Month by the Greater York Chamber of Commerce. The office opened January 12, 1999 in the Bradford and Bradford building across from the York County Courthouse. In March 2002, the office moved to a new full service bank at 801 East Liberty St.

  • Rocky Creek Claydusters Fundraising Event

    SCBT supported a fundraiser for the Rocky Creek Claydusters on Saturday, March 9th, 2013. The fundraiser helped to raise money to pay for tournaments the members attend throughout the year. The event included Cow Drop Bingo, lunch, and various target shooting games. The Rocky Creek Claydusters are located in the Piedmont Region of South Carolina.

  • Souper Bowl of Caring Campaign Supports Meals on Wheels

    SCBT representatives Lee Hutto and Shawnette Wright present a check for $800 raised during the Souper Bowl of Caring campaign to support Meals on Wheels (serviced by the Jasper County Council on Aging).

  • Bankers Educate 7th Graders About Checking Accounts

    SCBT bankers from our St. Matthews branch visited 7th grade students at Howard Middle School to teach them about opening and maintaining a checking account.

  • Jasper County February Teacher of the Month

    Each month, SCBT’s Ridgeland branch honors teachers in Jasper County by hosting a breakfast and presenting certificates to the winning “Teacher of the Month” from each school district. The February 2013 breakfast was hosted at Palmetto Electric in Ridgeland. Each month SCBT bankers also speak about different financial responsibilities. Shawnette Wright, a Financial Services Representative at SCBT’s Ridgeland branch, spoke during the February breakfast about the importance of balancing the checkbook.
